Eternal Love, Timeless Legacy: A Sustainable Wedding Celebration

When Karen and Sean envisioned their wedding day, they dreamt of more than just a joyful celebration of love. Their vision included creating a memorable event that was planet-friendly and waste-conscious, all while honouring the international heritage of the groom and many of the guests. With a focus on minimal waste and sustainability, they set out to design a party atmosphere that was as fun as it was eco-conscious. From the ceremony to the reception, every detail was meticulously planned to ensure a vibrant, low-impact celebration that seamlessly blended cultural nods and environmental responsibility.

Guests travelled from London and the south to Lincolnshire, accommodated at local hotel Boston West and The Leagate Inn. They were transported by a local bus company to the stunning National Trust venue Tattershall Castle and later to The Leagate Inn for the celebration.

Central to the wedding’s eco-friendly ethos were the floral arrangements created by Evolve Flowers Ltd. Specializing in sustainable sourcing, Evolve Flowers curated designs featuring 85% British-grown blooms. Helen, the creative force behind the floral concepts, ensured that all plants and most flowers and foliage were locally grown in Lincolnshire. To honour the groom's international heritage, a few exotic stems of Strelitzia, Heliconia, Gloriousa, and Kahala Roses were imported from sustainable farther flung growers. All the designs were plastic free and created so that guests could take home to enjoy as mementos of the day.

Adding a unique touch to the decorations, Helen commissioned Kate from Folds Under Pressure to craft paper flowers 'Birds of Paradise' Strelitzia. These handcrafted elements were used at Tattershall Castle, enhancing the natural beauty of the plants and reducing the need for imported flowers. The use of locally grown flowers and handcrafted decorations not only minimised waste but also supported local businesses, aligning perfectly with Karen and Sean's sustainable wedding vision.

The floral arrangements were not just beautiful; they were a testament to the couple’s commitment to sustainability. No single-use plastics were used, and the moss in Evolve’s trees was sustainably sourced from Forestry Commission-approved suppliers. The paper blooms also played a role in the interactive photo booth, providing a stunning, eco-friendly backdrop for guests to capture memories. By focusing on minimal waste and planet-friendly practices, Karen and Sean’s wedding exemplified how a celebration of love can also be a celebration of the earth. Even their rings were made of recycled skateboards, using Canadian maple wood.

Music was another highlight, with seven friends of the bride and groom serving as DJs. Their sets were fantastic, bringing the dance tent to life. From five-year-olds to eighty-two year-olds, family and friends danced the afternoon and evening away, creating an infectious joy that permeated the day.

Hand painted bespoke sign's commissioned by the Bride and Groom added to the party vibe and provided a great photo opportunity too and now grace the walls of their home as a reminder of the day. Sue from Past Imperfect has perfected the concept of unique 'Not-Neon' signs that can be displayed anywhere!

An informal approach to food immersed guests in flavours and tastes rather than a sit-down meal. Cupcakes and dessert boards provided a takeaway option at the end of the evening, ensuring minimal waste.
