BACK TO SCHOOL! It's the beginning of September and children will finally experience some sense of normality and routine - the new normal anyway. Autumn has well and truly arrived with the fresh Hop vines arriving this week and next to fulfill the pre-orders.
Loads of dried products are being sent out and our "Preserve Summer Embrace Autumn" collection hits the outlets this week, already proving popular as consumers get closer to nature and more in tune with seasonality.
The weather is certainly making us feel like Autumn is here already with nights as cool as 16c which has slowed both the field-grown and glasshouse crops.
Gladioli
Gladioli are being cropped every other day and has had a gap - we will be able to supply (if the sun shines) towards the end of next week.
Amaranthus
Green and Red - Limited.
Asters
300gram bunches of multi-headed Asters and plenty to go at. Full-colour range, great fillers.
Scabious
Weather dependent.
Gladioli
Full colour range - Pink - Coral, White, Yellow, Red - Orange and Purple
Solidago
Good stock levels
Sunflowers
Still in good supply
Hypericum
Green, Red berries and a favourite of mine Coral Pink.
Hydrangea
Hydrangea is steadily going along and this week a few Diamond series are added to the mix. White, Lilac and Pink to make a statement for the long-awaited weddings.
Lilies
Loads of lovely lilies - Rose lilies continue and now two growers on board
Pink and White Orientals are online and 3 colours of LA's.
The varieties will change over towards Lelita & Nathalia Pink and White Aisha are this week’s Pollen free favourites.
White Ascot and Pink Sorbonne in the Oriental selection.
Please do also note that our growers (for all crops) keep their prices fairly level for the whole season - none of this 'up and down auction' trading! This makes it easier for you to quote ahead on products, know your margins and not get caught out by trading peaks and troughs caused by the world market.
Foliages
Eucalyptus parvifolia is predicted to be back around the end of September - October.
Irish greens are paused until next week - please do consider there is a 5-7 day lead time when getting product from Ireland and as such it will benefit from being stored cool and damp (mist and cover with a clear bag will increase the life of the product)
Final Field Notes
Sunny weather is forecast albeit with storms in the next few days so hopefully, this will mean there are more flowers available from mid-week! We are waiting for Lisianthus and Antirrhinum.
- Pumpkins and decorative gourds are starting to appear and it’s Brassica time next! Bring on the Cabbage!
Quote of the Week:
“Everything in your life is a reflection of the choices you have made. If you want a different result, make a different choice.” - Unknown
Keep Calm & Keep On Flowering!
